WEEK 7 REVIEW

Division 1

Rileys Rugby opened up a 4 point lead at the top of the table after defeating Atack A1 6-4. The Nuneaton side, on their home patch, will be bitterly disappointed to lose to the potential favorites for the title.
Atack A2 travelled to Great Heath A2 and came away with a 6-4 win, Mick Aiello completing a double and all the rest of the team contributing. This moves the A2 side into third place ahead of the A1 side on countback.
Rugby Billiards maintained their challenge for the title with a comfortable 7-3 win over Great Heath A1. The Rugby side moved into second spot ably led by captain Carl Peake and Paul Brown who both scored doubles.
Oakfield only managed another draw this week against Great Heath A1 and although there was a welcome return to form for Gary Morris, the Rugby side will need to improve if they wish to move up the table.
At the bottom of the table, Kenilworth continue to struggle after suffering another heavy defeat 7-3 at home to Rileys Hertford. Kenilworth fielded an under strength side and paid the consequences. They now look a safe bet to return to the second division.

Highest break this week:    79 by Gary Morris of Oakfield.

Division 2

Parkstone continue to dominate the division and now have a commanding lead after their 8-2 win over Albany. Breaks of 73 and 70 for Mark White and doubles for Jeff Lole and Pete Evans were too much for the experienced Albany side. Kevin O’Sullivan missed the opportunity to go top of the aggregates when he lost a frame to Paul Walsh.
Atack B2 bounced back from their defeat last week with a 10-0 thrashing of Jaguar B2. They now move into second place, although they have played more games than most of their rivals.
Rileys Gosford had an impressive 8-2 win at home to Atack B1, Vic Makh making a nice break of 72. The Atack side are finding it difficult this season and remain in the bottom two.
Housing broke their losing sequence by drawing at home to Reds, both Simon Clay and Dave Mulhern completing doubles. There was also a drawn match between Jaguar B1 and Lime Tree.

Highest break this week:    73 by Mark White from Parkstone

Division 3

Clear water has now appeared at the top of the division with two teams, Jaguar and Balsall, breaking away from the chasing pack.
Jaguar went to Kenilworth and came away with an emphatic 8-2 win, only Nigel Williams and Phil Parkin offering some resistance. The Coventry side, who were promoted last season, look very good and have been strengthened by the inclusion of Surinder Singh. Balsall had a more predictable win 7-3 over strugglers Parkstone C3 who remain firmly at the bottom of the division despite a magnificent 76 break by Steve Buckley. Steve would seem to be the one player that could prevent the Parkstone team from being relegated. Wyken were surprisingly beaten 6-4 away at Albany who recorded their second consecutive win of the season. Despite this win, they remain near the bottom. Avenue Bowls were brought back down to earth after their good start to the season with an 8-2 defeat by Parkstone C2. Kristi Caulfield of Parkstone C1 remains undefeated after they fought out a 5-5 draw with Three Spires. Ian walker of the Spires club, is only one frame behind Kristi after his double over Barry Colledge.
Rugby Billiards are still looking for their first win of the season and went down again 6-4 away at Bell Green. The seasoned campaigner Barney Grafton causing most damage.

Highest break this week:    76 by Steve Buckley from Parkstone C3

Division 4

Top of the table clash between Housing and Stoke Bowls saw the Housing club victorious 6-4, Joe Appleby and Alan Carter recording doubles. Sukhi Mahal continued his good form and still leads the overall aggregates.
Kenilworth lost ground on the two leaders by losing 6-4 away at Coventry Deaf. The Kenilworth sides big guns, Wayne Fulford and Richard Mann, both recording doubles but having little support. Sokat Ali, James Boyle and Colin Quick provided the deaf side with a good win. Lime Tree recorded their first win of the campaign with a 6-4 home win over Brandon. The side have been struggling to date but will welcome this win. Stoke Bowls D2 eased their worries this week with a 6-4 win over Quadrant and move above them in the table, Norman Harriman and Ian Davies both scoring doubles. Wyken slipped up against lowly Rileys Gosford when they could only manage a 5-5 draw at home. They would have expected a better result and will need to improve if they are looking for promotion.

Highest break this week:    32 by Wayne Fulford from Kenilworth.

Division 5

The late result from last week between the Railway Club and Reds saw Reds come out on top 6-4 and they followed that win up this week with an 8-2 drubbing of Jaguar E1. Martin Poole leading the way winning two frames with breaks of 29, 27 and 23, ably supported by his captain Chris Lowe also recording a double. Last week leaders Rileys Hertford, kept up their challenge with an 8-2 win over struggling Housing and Sam Mills again sparkled knocking in a break of 50. Railway Club showed that last weeks defeat by Reds had not dampened their spirits and came away from Brandon with an 8-2 victory. This win keeps them in contention in third place. Both Kenilworth sides were well beaten this week. Kenilworth E1 were surprised by Massey Ferguson E1 who eased to a 7-3 win, Paul Tapping showing the way with a break of 47. Kenilworth E2 were beaten 8-2 by Coachmakers and continue to prop up the division, although there was a first frame win for their captain Kieran Williams. Coachmakers are handily placed in the table and do have a game in hand to all the leaders.

Highest break this week:    50 by Sam Mills from Rileys Hertford
